Best Photographic moments of 2008
One photograph taken from each month of the year. Not necesserily the best photograph, but the best moments captured in picture.
Jan

The main temple at Mahabalipuram by the sea. Like the trees and leading to the temple. Would have preferred a deeper blue in the sky.
Feb

Flower basket at city market Bangalore. Like the highlights on the main flower and the deep blacks. Would have liked a bigger DOF so that the entire stack could have been in focus.
Mar

Grandfather and granddaughter interaction. Like the expression on Pareena's face giving a biscuit to papa. The focus could definitely have been better.
Apr

Mother and daughter spending time together. Like the smiles on both faces and the expression on Pareena's face. Could have avoided the glare on Vaishali's glasses.
May

Sunset at Ooty. Exposure blended to highlight the building at the bottom. Like the way the layered mountains have come with distinct outlines. Would have liked better contrast and clarity at the bottom.
June

A split second moment when Pareena looked up from her play and straight into the camera. Really like the natural expression. Again would have liked better DOF. With 85/1.8, getting the proper DOF is a tough task.
July

Wine bottle and two glasses from a portrait and product workshop I attended. Like the reflection and colors on the wine glasses. A little more details on the cloth under the bottle would have been nice.
Aug

Pareena playing while Vaishali and I watched TV. Liked the flared nose an open mouth expression surprise at something Vaishali was doing. Would have liked her eyes to look into the camera.
Sep

Early morning shot of the setting moon. A remainder of how beautiful the mornings are and I should spend some time taking in the view. Would have liked better exposure on the moon.
Oct

Nainital lake in the fog. This is the image of Nainital I like most. Fog rolling in and covering your sweater with little beads of water. Would have liked a little more details on the top left. Still a classic poster photo.
Nov

A panorama of two shots, taken early morning near Gwaldam in Garhwal. Like the early morning glow on the peaks and the progressive light on the layered mountain range. Could have done better on clarity.

Autumn in Nainital
Last month we went to Nainital for Diwali. We spent 15 days there and spent a lot of time going places and meeting friends and relatives.
We also went to Badrinath and I spent a day photographing sunset and sunrise at Gwaldam.
From photography perspective, I almost entirely shot prime using a 28/1.4 and a borrowed 100/2.8 macro. Pictures here: Diwali 2008 – Best 20, Diwali 2008 – Places and Diwali 2008 – People.
