Invariably every year, eating off the sugar cane used to make the Lakshmi is the last of Diwali celebrations.

The black sugar cane in south is easy to peel and gentle on the teeth, else my ageing teeth would not have been able to finish it off. The sun in Bangalore is warm, but it is still fun to sit in the sun and chew on the sugarcane .
